RULE OF THIRDS

PHOTO 1 - STANDING AND ADMIRING THE MOUNTAINS

In this photograph, the subject is placed along the left vertical third of the frame, while the expansive mountains and sky occupy the remaining two-thirds. This use of the Rule of Thirds draws the viewer’s eye naturally toward the person first and then outward to the vast landscape. The composition emphasizes the contrast between human presence and nature’s scale, creating a reflective and calm mood. The off- center placement suggests contemplation and curiosity, as if the subject is quietly absorbing the beauty and meaning of the journey ahead.

PHOTO -2 A MOMENT OF ADMIRING NATURE

In this image, the subject is positioned along the left third of the frame, while the sun is placed near the upper-left intersection, following the Rule of Thirds. The remaining space is filled with the vast sea, allowing the viewer’s eye to travel naturally from the subject toward the horizon. This composition creates a calm and reflective mood, suggesting a quiet moment of connection with nature. The off-center placement avoids stiffness and enhances the feeling of solitude, contemplation, and emotional balance within the scene.

LEADING LINES

PHOTO 1- CORRIDOR OF LIGHTS

In this photograph, the corridor’s floor patterns, ceiling lights, and parallel walls act as strong leading lines that guide the viewer’s eye toward the vanishing point at the end of the hallway. These lines create a sense of depth and direction, drawing attention forward and suggesting movement and continuity. The composition tells a story of routine and anticipation, as if the space is waiting to be walked through. The clean, linear structure adds a calm yet disciplined mood, emphasizing order, focus, and the passage of time.

PHOTO 2- A ROAD TO NOWHERE

In this photograph, the tiled sidewalk, row of bollards, and alignment of trees create strong leading lines that guide the viewer’s eye straight into the depth of the street. These lines naturally draw attention toward the figures walking ahead, suggesting movement and an unfolding journey. The composition tells a quiet story of everyday urban life, capturing a calm evening atmosphere. The leading lines enhance the sense of direction and continuity, making the viewer feel as if they are part of the walk, moving forward into the scene and its moments.

FRAMING

PHOTO 1 - THROUGH THE WINDOW

In this photograph, the window grills and frame act as a natural frame that encloses the building outside, directing the viewer’s attention inward and outward at the same time. This framing technique creates a layered composition, separating the interior space from the exterior world. The image tells a story of observation and quiet distance, as if the viewer is looking out from a personal space into a structured environment. The frame adds depth and context, enhancing the feeling of confinement versus openness beyond the window.

PHOTO 2 -  MIRROR SELFIE THROUGH WINDOW

In this photograph, the window frame acts as a strong visual boundary that neatly encloses the two subjects, drawing immediate attention to their expressions and interaction. This framing technique isolates the moment from the surrounding space, making the friendship and shared emotion the clear focus of the image. The frame creates a sense of intimacy, as if the viewer is peeking into a private, playful moment. By using framing, the composition strengthens the story of connection, joy, and spontaneity captured within a simple everyday setting.

SYMMETRY

PHOTO 1- BLACKBOARD

In this photograph, symmetry is created through the balanced layout of the blackboard, with text and visual elements evenly distributed on both sides of the central axis. This symmetrical composition brings a sense of order, clarity, and stability to the image. It reflects the structured nature of learning and discipline within an academic environment. The balanced arrangement guides the viewer’s eye smoothly across the frame, reinforcing the message written on the board. Symmetry here enhances the feeling of calm focus and emphasizes the importance of balance and organization in education.

PHOTO 2- ELEVATOR IN A MALL

In this photograph, symmetry is achieved through the elevator’s balanced design, with identical panels, doors, and control elements evenly placed on both sides of the central line. This symmetrical composition creates a sense of order, stability, and precision. The viewer’s eye is naturally drawn to the center, emphasizing the elevator as a controlled and enclosed space. The symmetry tells a story of routine and transition, symbolizing movement between floors while maintaining balance and structure. This visual harmony enhances the calm, mechanical rhythm of everyday urban life.

DEPTH

PHOTO 1- MOON CRATERS

In this photograph, depth is emphasized through the visible layers of moon craters, where light and shadow create a strong three-dimensional effect on the surface. The varying sizes and overlapping forms of the craters guide the viewer’s eye across the frame, giving a sense of distance and scale. This use of depth transforms the moon from a flat object into a textured landscape, telling a story of time, impact, and change. The composition highlights the vastness of space and invites curiosity about the unseen depths beyond the surface.

PHOTO 2 - OCEAN

The vast ocean stretches endlessly, layers of blue fading into the horizon. The closer waves glisten with sunlight, each ripple detailed and sharp, while the distant waters blur softly, hinting at mysteries beyond sight. A lone boat drifts in the mid-distance, giving scale and perspective, while the horizon line melts into the sky, drawing the eye deep into the scene. Depth here isn’t just visual—it tells a story of distance, space, and the unknown, inviting the viewer to journey from the familiar near shore to the infinite beyond.

NEGATIVE SPACES

PHOTO 1 - A BIRD FLYING IN THE SKY

A lone bird soars across the vast expanse of the clear blue sky, its delicate wings outlined against the emptiness around it. The wide-open space above and below emphasizes the bird’s freedom and smallness in the endless atmosphere. This negative space isn’t mere emptiness—it gives the composition balance, focus, and a sense of tranquility. By isolating the bird against the open sky, the photograph tells a subtle story of solitude, movement, and possibility, showing how what surrounds a subject can be just as powerful as the subject itself.

PHOTO 2 -SEEING THE OCEAN

A lone girl floats gently in the endless ocean, her small silhouette surrounded by the vast, open water. The calm waves stretch to the horizon, blending seamlessly with the sky above, leaving immense negative space that emphasizes her solitude. The emptiness around her isn’t empty—it speaks of freedom, reflection, and vulnerability. By placing the subject amid such expanse, the composition tells a quiet story: sometimes the space around us shapes the story as much as the subject itself, inviting the viewer to feel both awe and contemplation.
